Cinemalaya choices
I was moved by the heart of Ellen Marfil's "Boses", entertained by the sense and sensibility of Chris Martinez's "100", and riveted by the mind of Francis Pasion's "Jay". I totally agree with the jury's choice for best picture ('Jay"), actor (Baron Geisler of "Jay"), supporting actress (Eugene Domingo of "100'), and screenplay ("100"). My choice for best director is Francis Pasion and best actress is the one who plays Nanay Flor in "Jay" for her painfully naturalistic, vainless performance. Special mention must be made of the lead boy in "Boses" for his phenomenally wordless but emotion-filled portrayal of an abused mute.
